Can you help these couples find good compromise names?

I am going to list several sets of couples where both partners have VERY different taste in names. Can you help them by suggesting one or two first names they could use that might suit BOTH their naming styles? Feel free to explain why your suggestions might appeal to both.

Couple A (having a girl):

He likes River, Willow, and Rain; she likes Eleanor, Katherine, and Margaret

Couple B (having a girl):

He likes Amber and Tiffany; she likes Emma and Olivia

Couple C (having a girl):

He likes Riley, Peyton, and Taylor; she likes Guinevere, Ophelia, and Charlotte

Couple D (having a girl):

He likes Persephone, Echo, and Calliope; she likes Samantha, Alexa, and Sophia

Couple E (having a boy):

He likes Michael and Christopher; she likes Caden and Greyson

Couple F (having a boy):

He likes Cash, Butch, and Jett; she likes Julius, Sebastian, and MateoCan you help these couples find good compromise names?
Couple A:

Lillian, Lorraine, Rosemary, Willa, Rhea, Rosalind or Rosamund, Ivy, and Kaya are a few that come to mind.

Of these, I'd suggest Rosemary or Rosalind first. Mom seems to prefer more regal, classic names; Dad goes towards more naturey names. Rosemary is a very classic name, but definitely does add a little nature flair and spice (if you'll excuse my pun) to a familiar favorite. If that's too subtle a connection for him, Rose is always available as a nickname; nobody can dispute that ;)

If the couple appreciates wordplay/subtlety in names, Rosalind is a great one. It's always a classic because of the Shakespeare reference, which is sure to make Mom happy; but can be shortened as a nickname to Linden (a tree) or even Lindy, to please Dad. Rosamund is also an elegant classic that can shorten to Rose. Rhea is an interesting one because it's very underused, and is similar to the Spanish word for river, rio. If Dad likes clever wordplay, he might be amused by that.

Lillian is also a familiar, traditional name, but she can abbreviate to flowery Lily. Lorraine is a very pretty one that sounds like it would appeal to Mom, but also has built-in Rain as a nickname, and if not, could even potentially shorten to Laurel as a nickname. And Kaya has a Native-American sound that is reminiscent (at least to me, for some odd reason) of nature, but is a little more subtle than his choices that you've listed above. It could appeal to her ;)

Another compromise could be to use a month name (April, May, or June). They can be classic, but he also might like them. Always worth a try!

Couple B:

What struck me first was that they've both listed names that were/are super-trendy, or once were so. His choices are '80s chart-toppers, hers are this decade's chart-toppers. Maybe they could compromise on a trendy name from the '90s?

Just kidding! Well, not completely, because it does seem that they seem to appreciate more popular names. Something like Jessica or Emily really might do the trick. She sounds like Emily might appeal to her, because its a classic (her choices are actually classics, albeit popular ones) with a lot of similarity to Emma, and he might like it because it has the same rhythm and flow as Tiffany. Jessica sounds more like something he might like; he also might appreciate Heather or Amanda. Amanda is similar to Amber, and its flow is similar to Olivia's, so it could just be okay with her. Another choice they could possibly consider is Gemma. Obviously, it has the ';emma'; part for Mom, but the -G gives it a fresher feel, though it saw a lot of use in the '70s and '80s (in the U.K), so it may appeal to him.

Couple C:

Dad seems to like unisex/trendy names, while Mom's taste looks a little more refined (French/Shakespearean). The first thing that came to mind was Soleil. French for Mom, possible shortening to Lee/Leigh for Dad's more unisex taste.

Arden, Hermia, Juliet, Regan, Imogen, Margot, Dominique (I actually like this one because it's a unisex name, but French), Faye, Jacqueline (nickname Jack, although that might be too Kennedy-esque for some). Arden, Hermia, Juliet, Regan, and Imogen are a few Shakespearean names that might work on a girl, but aren't too frilly or feminine. Regan or Arden might appeal to him especially. Juliet could be a good compromise because it's French; feminine, but less so than Juliette, the other common spelling, and also can have a unisex nickname (Jules). Margot/Margo could also work because it's French but not frilly and could perhaps be unisex.

Couple D:

He seems to like Greek names, she seems to like popular three-syllable names ending in -a. Perhaps Ariadne, nickname Aria, would appeal? Greek for Dad, Aria (three syllable ending in -A) for Mom. Athena, Cassandra, Elena, Melissa, Cynthia, Alyssa, Callista, Delia, or Lydia could also work.

Cassandra seems to fit in with both of their styles; it has the same rhythm as Samantha, but still is very Greek and fits in with Calliope and Persephone. Elena is also something I think she would appreciate, but again, it's Greek for Dad.

Couple E:

He seems to prefer more traditional names, she seems to like more offbeat ones. From looking at both their choices, I think Kevin might appeal. It's a pretty classic name, but is similar to Caden and has the same rhythm as Greyson. Jason or Evan might also work for both of them. Both are fairly traditional, but have the -n ending she seems to like.

Couple F:

From this, I'm assuming Dad prefers more ';macho'; and boyish names that sound nickname-y, Mom likes more European, artsy ones. Dana might be an interesting choice, based off of their preferences; it's sort of feminine and artsy, but does retain a lot of boyishness and a nickname type feel. Ellis is similar to that, Rowan, Ethan, Kappes (Kap), Chandler, Blake, Cole, Keifer, Penn, Carson, Langston, Rhys, Vincent, Conrad, Bronte (I know this has been used as a girls' name, but it sounds pretty unisex to me).Can you help these couples find good compromise names?
Couple A-He likes earthy names, she likes traditional ones. Virginia ';Ginger'; Rain.

Couple B-He likes modern names, she likes popular names. Ava Melissa

Couple C-He likes unisex names, she likes feminine names. Charlotte ';Charlie'; Taylor

Couple D-He likes mythological names, she likes traditional names. Calista Alexis

Couple E-He likes traditional names, she likes modern names. Jaxson ';Jax'; James (or JJ)

Couple F-He likes short tough names, she likes long romantic names. Jude Nathaniel
Couple A:

HELENA. It suits both those who like surreal names and those who like more traditional names.

Couple B:

EVANGELINE. They can call her Eva or by her full name, depending on what suits each person.

Couple C:

MIKA (my-kah). Can be spelled other ways, but suits both the girly names and the boyish names.

Couple D:

BIANCA. Suits both tastes, I think. Even if I don't like the name much myself...

Couple E:

XAVIER or XANDER. Just quirky enough but still fairly common names.

A-Hard one! Looks like he's into nature, and she's into tradition. What about Hailey, Brooke, Rain, Destiny, Grace, or Faith.

B-Couple B doesn't seem that far apart. They seem to like names with beginning vowel sounds and fairly short. I would suggest Abbi, Alexis, Jade, or Shea. These were very easy for me. They are the first and middle names of my daughter and granddaughter. Abbi means ';Father rejoiced.'; or ';gives joy';. It is also the name of King David's wife in the Old Testament described as beautiful...

Alexis means helper. Jade, of course is a stone just as amber is.

C- It seems the dad goes for unisex names and the mom for old traditional. Incidentally, my name is Charlotte. I would consider Alexandria, Georgianna, Jessie, Bailee, or Addison.

D-Well, it looks like she has to get some sound in there someway! I would suggest Aria, Jazlyn, or Eliza...that's right...the musical My Fair Lady comes from the Shaw play Pygmalian which starred Eliza Doolittle. By the way, I see the lady liked Alexa. My little granddaughter's name is Alexis. I will promise that you will have plenty of sound and music with one of those around!

E- I named my son Christopher Michael. Never would I do it again. Everytime he fills out a form, his name is longer than the line! There was so many Christopher's at the time I named him, he went through school having to be known by his first name and last initial as did all the other boys with the name! But that's been a while ago. I would suggest Caden, Chase, or Christian. The dad seemed to use Biblical names and the mother shorter, more popular names. These would make good compromises.

F-The male seems to want something short and the female possibly longer and more formal. Try Julian, Xavier, Blake, Matthew (Matt), or Gabriel (Gabe).

Good luck. Whatever you decide, I promise you that in a month, you won't be able to imagine calling the child anything else.
Couple A (having a girl):

He likes River, Willow, and Rain; she likes Eleanor, Katherine, and Margaret...';Lily/Lillie/Lillian/Liliana'; (flower), ';Ava'; (bird) They are natural, yet classic names.

Couple B (having a girl):

He likes Amber and Tiffany; she likes Emma and Olivia...I'm not sure how to compromise here but her names are much better than his. Perhaps ';Cynthia'; would work. He could call her ';Cindy/Cyndie,'; or whatever, for short.

Couple C (having a girl):

He likes Riley, Peyton, and Taylor; she likes Guinevere, Ophelia, and Charlotte...I like ';Mallory/Mallorie'; which is a boy's name that's been turned into primarily a girl's name. It's also classic. ';Alexandra'; would also work because it's a classical, feminine name for the mom %26amp; he could call her ';Alex.'; Another would be ';Corynn/Corin'; (or however they want to spell it.) Her nickname could be ';Cory.';

Couple D (having a girl):

He likes Persephone, Echo, and Calliope; she likes Samantha, Alexa, and Sophia...';Diana'; is a more traditional name but it is also the name of a goddess.

Couple E (having a boy):

He likes Michael and Christopher; she likes Caden and Greyson...';Ethan'; is somewhat unusual, for her, yet it's also traditional for him.

Couple F (having a boy):

He likes Cash, Butch, and Jett; she likes Julius, Sebastian, and Mateo...';Maximus'; is a very masculine sounding name, for the dad, %26amp; it goes along with the tone of her choices. He can call the boy ';Max'; for short.
Why do you know so many couples who cannot agree on baby names?

Couple A: Rose. It's an old-fashioned beautiful name like Katherine, Eleanor, but it's a nature name like Willow %26amp; Rain

Couple B: he needs to get over his boyhood crush on tiffany-amber thieson %26amp; compromise on a name.

Couple C: Sheylin; b/c he likes the 'y' in a 2-syllable name; she likes old-fashioned sounds, like charlotte

Couple D: Aria; a musical name that has the ';-ah'; sound the mom likes. Also, Melody, Cadence.

Couple E: Christian. B/c he likes Christopher; she likes 2 syllable names that end in the ';en'; sound.

Couple F: Lucas. It's a sophisticated name, kind of like Julius. Cash could easily be a nickname. Dad could call him Cash, mom could call him Lucas, Luke or Lukey.
Couple A: Lorraine or Lorraina Katherine. Some people don't like the earthy sounding names so a more traditional name that keeps the tone might be a good comprimise. Lorraine does that well and the mother might be happy to have Katherine intact but as the middle name.

Couple B: Amber Olivia is the first that comes to mind. Then maybe they could choose a different name all together something like Stephanie or Bethany because both names sort of have similar styles as the parents' preferences. Maybe Bolivia if they're into the naming after places kind of thing. Amberly or Amberlee or Tahlia might be nice too.

Couple C: Carley would be a sweet blend of a Riley and Charlotte. Personally I think multigender names for girls go well if the middle name is more feminine so if they follow that pattern then the dad's choice then one of the mom's choices would probably go really well together. I like Taylor Ophelia or maybe something like Ryan Guinevere.

Couple D: The mother needs to hold firm. Calliope is the only name on his list that would make a nice first name but would probably be stronger as a middle name. Athena Alexa would be nice, going along with the greek theme.

Couple E: Micheal Greyson and Caden Christopher. They also might like an uncommon biblical name which would be both traditional and have its uniqueness. Maybe something like Ezra, Josiah, Amos, Ephriam or Caleb.

Couple F: They should give him a French or Italian name then call him by an American nickname. Giovanni Alonzo and call him ';Geo,'; ';Al,'; or ';Lonny'; or Jean-Guillaume and call him Guy.
Couple A:

Lenora Starr- Lenora is classic which is what the mom likes but Nora is a sweet nickname that i think Dad could live with. Starr is the style Dad likes w/out being too hippie, and i think mom would appreciate that.

Couple B:

Julia Kimberly- Julia is more mom's style but not too common as Olivia and Emma are. Kimberly has that traditional 80s flare that dad likes.

Couple C:

Georgiana Piper- Georgiana has that old school classic feel to it that mom likes and Piper is trendy like Dad likes, also her nickname could be Georgie which might please dad since it sounds a bit trendy.

Couple D:

Fleur Claire- Fleur fits in w/dad's eclectic style and Claire is that spunky yet girly style like her choices.

Couple E:

Timothy Kale-

Timothy is classic like dad likes, and Kale is a bit trendy like mom likes. together i think it makes for a strong name.

Couple F:

Julian Khan-

Julian has that Spanish style that mom likes and Khan has that rocker's baby style that dad likes.

Oh this is fun!!!

A: Lilly or Iris, because its a natury name like the dad likes, and it is also classic like the mom likes but also unique :)

B: Hmm I'd say Bridgette. Dad likes girlier modern names, while mom likes girlier but older names, so i think Bridgette is a good compromise because its a little older of a name, while also being trendy. Maybe Abigail too.

C. Hmm maybe Leighton...or Blair. He likes unisex names, and she likes VERY feminine names and while Leighton is unisex its still very feminine if that makes sense lol.

D. Cassandra. He likes Greek names (this is Greek), and she likes more traditional fem names.

E. Aiden. She likes trendy, he likes classic, i think the name Aiden is both.

F. Justin. He likes Western names where she likes more romantic names i think Justin could be for either :)

This was so cool!
A. Liliana - it sounds nature because of the ';lily'; sound it has in it, but is still sophisticated like the names she likes. Lili is an occasional nickname they use for her.

B. Jenna - this was the first thing that came to mind. it's cute like the names she likes, and a little common. tiffany and amber strike me as 80 names (i dont know if they are). Jenna sounds also 80's-ish to me, but still feminine and cute like Emma and Olivia.

C. Caroline - this one was really hard. I chose this one because it is a form of Charlotte. also because of the possible nicknames he would like: Carrie and Carly. I know they are girl names, but they sound kind of like ';sporty'; names. The nicknames arent too girly, which i think he'll like.

D. Evangeline (or Evangelina. i dont know. lol) - she likes kind of normal-but-pretty names. He likes uncommon greek names. i chose Evangeline because it is Greek and ends in the letter E. (not in the E sound though). it's a pretty name and seems to fit or style also. plus, there are nicknames she might like, such as Eva/Eve/Evie/Leena/Angie

E. Hayden - this name is classic-sounding so he likes it. she is pleased with this name because it sounds modern at the same time and ends in ayden, like caden does.

F. Drake - it is one syllable, so he likes it. it also seems to give off the vibe that Julius, Sebastian and Mateo have (in my opinion, anyway.). It is also very masculine sounding, so he likes it also.

hope i helped!

that was very interesting! i hope i satistfied the couples. lol.

- Eva
A: Pearl, Ivy, or Beatrice. Obviously, Pearl and Ivy are nature names that still have that older fashioned vibe. Beatrice is more like her preferences, but he could call her Bee, which still fits with the nature vibe he likes without being so obvious. Violet or Rosalie might be good options, too.

B:Whitney, Melanie, Rebecca, or Alyssa. The first three are names that were common in the eighties, but have surprisingly deep roots in history, like her choices do. Alyssa is still popular now like Emma and Olivia, but was also popular in the eighties.

C: Regan, Sydney, or Meredith. Regan is very unisex, but it's also the name of a female character in King Lear, which might help the mother feel better about the choice. Sidney is a masculine sounding name to a lot of people, but it's been morphing into a girl's name over the last few years. Meredith used to be commonly bestowed to boys until the 20th century, so it's gender neutral, but ancient and classic.

D: Daphne or Clio. This one was the hardest! Daphne is a TV character, like her choices are, and Clio shares that delicate, feminine sound her choices also have, but they're both Greek myth names, like his choices.

E: Alexander, James, or Maxwell. They're all classic names, which he likes. Alex is a common nickname, as is Max. James is more of a classic name, but it has that trendy ';AY'; sound in it she seems to like

F: Wesley, Marshall, or Cassius. Cassius is an ancient name, like she likes, but it gives the nickname Cash, which he likes. Marshall and Wesley are older, slightly romantic sounding names, but they also have that masculine, Western vibe he seems to like.
Couple A (having a girl):

Willa Lorraine - similarity to Willow and Rain(which is actually a nickname for Lorraine), but still has the mother's classic style. (I like this woman, if she is even real... :) )

Shenandoah Lenore - Shenandoah is a River (also a famous Amer. folk song) Lenore is a simpler version of Eleanore.

Shenandoah Kate - see above

Couple B (having a girl):

1. Emma Rose - I just like it :D

2. Ember Onyx - Ember is a name and uses Emma and Amber together; Onyx is another stone name

3. Livie/Livia Jasmine (jass MEEN) - Livie and Livia ';common-down'; the name Olivia, which I think the dad would appreciate. I think the dad may like Jasmine.

Couple C (having a girl):

Yikes, male names...

Charlotte Rosamund - Rosamund is such a strong sounding name that the dad might like. She could go by Charlie instead of Charlotte - thereby satisfying (partly) the need for a male name. (I really like the nn Charlie for this name - I feel like Charlotte could be a good compromise)

Ingrid Helen - just going with a very strong sounding name that the dad might respect

Couple D (having a girl):

Both of these parents seem to like Greek names; that helps.

Calliope Sophie (';so FEE';) - obvious...

Calla Alexandra

Calla Rose or Calla Lily

Zoƫ Margaret - book are Greek names that are relatively popular (the mom seems to like more popular names)

Couple E (having a boy):

Both sets are pretty similar...

Michael Caden

Caden Michael

Aidan Christopher

EIi Christopher - it's Biblical too (Eli looks like the mom's style too)

Couple F (having a boy):

Julian Bennett - Julian is more ';simplified'; than Julius. Bennett has that ';country boy'; feel of the dad's names, but it also has a sophistication to it (via Pride and Prejudice) that the mom might like

Cameron Heath - enough country and sophistication for the both of them

Cullen Heath - see above

Tristan Heath -...

Austen Harper - Austen, like Bennett... Harper is a nice ';surnames as a name'; name. I always imagine a ';country boy'; when I envision Harper
Couple A (having a girl):

He likes River, Willow, and Rain; she likes Eleanor, Katherine, and Margaret

For Couple A try Lily or Rose. Naturey but old-fashined too (since he liked nature names and she likes old fashined)

Couple B (having a girl):

He likes Amber and Tiffany; she likes Emma and Olivia

idk what here

Couple C (having a girl):

He likes Riley, Peyton, and Taylor; she likes Guinevere, Ophelia, and Charlotte

Georgia

Couple D (having a girl):

He likes Persephone, Echo, and Calliope; she likes Samantha, Alexa, and Sophia

he has the worst name taste

Couple E (having a boy):

He likes Michael and Christopher; she likes Caden and Greyson

greyson???? what kind of a name is greyson???

Couple F (having a boy):

He likes Cash, Butch, and Jett; she likes Julius, Sebastian, and Mateo

Mateo+Jett= Matt

Couple A (having a girl):

Katherine i love it

Couple B (having a girl):

I love emma, I would name her emma lou

Couple C (having a girl):

Riley, Peyton, and Taylor i like all 3 of his choices Peyton is prob my fav

Couple D (having a girl):

i dont like any of them

Couple E (having a boy):

i like Cayden the best

Couple F (having a boy):

Cash, Butch, and Jett dont like at all is he a hillbilly?Julius i like it the best
Couple A (having a girl): Willow Katherine ';Lily';

Couple B (having a girl): Olivia Amber ';Livvy';

Couple C (having a girl): Charlotte Peyton ';Charlie';

Couple D (having a girl): Sophia Callie ';Sophie';

Couple E (having a boy):Michael Caden ';Mickey';

Couple F (having a boy): Mateo Jett ';Matt';
