[p.s. i am biracial myself]I need facts why people believe biracial couples shouldnt be allowed?
Focus on the prejudice that biracial couples get from bigots, and the difficulties that it causes in their lives, such as obtaining housing and the type of treatment it evokes from others.

It's very difficult to argue for something you know is wrong, but you'll learn from it.I need facts why people believe biracial couples shouldnt be allowed?
Facts? There are no facts, just opinions. This seems to be a totally inappropriate topic for a school speech, especially for someone of mixed race.

Knowing your children are more likely to be picked on is about as close as I could come to an argument, but you hate to punish someone for someone else's ignorance.
Just think what people have said to you or your family.

1. The kids of interracial couples have identity issues.

2. ';Races'; shouldn't promote interracial dating/families to preserve their own race. (although race IS a socially constructed word!!! not scientific)

Honestly, I cannot even think of any more. I am birracial too. What a stupid assignment!! Your teacher is trying to get everyone to think, but to debate it is just out there!!!
Until the middle decades of the 20th century (and hopefully not much later), one of the major pseudo-scientific rationales for opposing interracial marriage was 'miscegenation', the supposed ';mixing of the bloods'; that occurred when people of different races had children. The argument was that this mixing of the bloods would taint and somehow diminish the bloodline of the superior (generally white) race.

As the idea of miscegenation has been discredited, more subtle but no less harmful reasons have been offered for opposing interracial marriage. Two of the most common ones relate to the supposed impact on the children who, it is argued, (a) will be torn between two different cultures and thus two different racial identities; and/or (b) will be picked on by other children because of their mixed race.

Sadly, there are still places in the US where (b) is still arguably true. Happily, these places are getting fewer and father between.
Bob Jones, of Bob Jones University fame, claimed that the Bible forbids interracial marriage, and evidently there are lots of people who buy that crap. The university is still around, though it has relaxed its bans on interracial dating, I believe. Frankly, it's all bull, but at least its an opinion.
